Mixed Image Background Cards by May

Hi crafty friends! It's May here with a couple of clean and simple one-layer cards, inspired by this color line graphic.

I've been under the weather lately, so I couldn't think of any creative ideas for today's project. Then I ended up making it with my all time favorite technique: stamped background.

To create my own background, I started by stamping all the small images from several stamp sets: Crafting is My JamSparkle and ShineJust HelloLife is Beautiful, and Send Pretty Mail. The sentiment is from For the Record. Next, I partially colored them with Copic markers: Red&Green(R29, G14), Orange&Mint(YR16, BG13)

That's all from me. Hope you loved my cards and got some inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by today. Happy crafting!

We are all made of stories...

Hello there!
Mayuri to share a card using the exclusive 'We Are All Made of Stories' stamp set from the Mix Tape October Kit by Scrapbook Circle.
©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled / Scrapbook Circle.

I also used some of the papers from the kit to whip up this super simple shaker card, using a technique demonstrated by Julie Ebersole here. I began by mounting a piece of pattern paper onto a kraft card base and then moved on to the shaker.

I then took a smaller piece of pattern paper and stamped the large greeting with black dye ink. I trimmed a piece of acetate to the same size and began sealing both pieces together with washitape on three of the four sides.

I added some sequins from the Sunset Shimmer mix along with one of the cork heart embellishments from the kit before sealing the pocket shut.

To finish, I foam mounted the shaker pocket to the card front! Simple, quick and easy!

October Guest: Els Brigé

Hello friends!

Our October guest Els Brigé is back today to share some of her planner pages!

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
Since a few months now I’ve been using these beautiful planner pages for my monthly blog schedule. Keeping this board out on display on a shelve in my craft room, helps me stay more organized and on top of my to-do list. I loved getting to play with the fun Blog Planner stamp set, which happened to fit perfectly for this size of planner page.

I love keeping my planner pages as clean as possible, so I can have a good overview. After writing down all of the necessary planning, there was also a bit of room for play or embellishing left.

I used the Hand Stitched set for the embellishing of the page, and gave it just a tad bit of structure and dimension by paper piecing the floral element, and adding the gem stones.

I’m looking forward to planning every month now ;)

A very big thank you, again, for having me as your October Guest Designer. I had a good time being here, sharing my projects, and playing with your beautiful projects. Have a great weekend!!

Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us this month Els!

Hope you all have a beautiful weekend!

2015 Caring Hearts Card Drive

It is the 6th year for the annual Caring Hearts Card Drive… collecting handmade cards to give to those that live in nursing homes. Caring Hearts Card Drive is all about bringing joy and holiday cheer to the elderly that are often quite lonely. In 2014, they collected over 17,000 cards and sent cards to many nursing home in US, Canada and Australia.
Vera Yates (the mastermind behind this) and Jennifer McGuire are excited to be back this year spreading kindness… with your help! We all love making cards and what’s better than knowing our creations can bring a smile to others, right?
Neat and Tangled is happy to be a sponsor again, along with so many other wonderful companies!
A few important details:
  • This card drive will be going on from October 3 to November 27, 2015. We need to receive your card by November 27, 2015.
  • Please make the cards for Christmas or Holiday Wishes. Anyone can send a card – your children, church group, scout troops, etc.
  • All cards need to have a message in it – stamped or handwritten. Please sign your name and where you are from.
  • Please include an envelope for each card but don’t seal the envelope.
  • Please stick to just cards – standard size 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ or smaller.
  • And please don’t use any pins for safety reasons.
  • This is totally optional… if you’d like to include $1 or $2 to help with shipping, it’ll be much appreciated. We cover the shipping cost ourselves, with no sponsor, so any donation toward shipping would help tremendously.
  • They have a few awesome ladies helping us in collecting the cards. Tina Schrof is working with Jennifer in collecting the cards. Since international shipping is expensive, those of you in Canada can mail your cards to Anita or Caroline and they’ll distribute the cards. And, for those of you in Australia, you can send to Linda. Here are the places you can send your cards:
  • Vera Yates, 1314 Roy St., Houston, TX 77007
  • Tina Schrof , 185 W. Pugh Drive,  Springboro, OH 45066

To thank you for your generosity in supporting this drive, they have lots of PRIZES for lots winners!
Please share about this card drive!

Happy HELLOween!

Hello!!!

I didn't plan to make a Halloween card at all, but when I took the Hello There die out, this card created itself!  :) I like to play with words and this combination was just perfect for the upcoming holiday. I chose a non-traditional color scheme, mostly white with a touch of black and...pink!

For the background I used the Seeing Stars die which is covered with glitter, real stars have to shine!  I also I added the funny skull and bat from the Creepy Cute stamp set.

I placed my sentiment on the A Lot to Say die cut.

How do you feel about light and girlish Halloween? :)

With Heartfelt Thanks

Happy Monday!  Alice is back to kick our week off with a gorgeous card featuring the Maple Leaves die today.

She colored the die with Copics and added a sentiment from Dala Horse.

A doily, some twine, and a few sequins from the Festive Fall Mix finish it off.

Isn't that journaling card so striking against all the white?

Thanks to Alice for sharing this gorgeous card with us!
