You Are...

Hello!
Chari here today with a card using On the Corner…but not so much on a corner. :)  As I've said before I like to challenge myself to think of ways to use stamp sets in new ways other than the obvious.  So that's just what I did with todays card.

YouAre

I started with Neenah solar white card stock and colored all my pieces with distress ink and blending tools.  You could use colored card stock but this is just another way to make your own pieces of colored paper. I inked pieces with peacock feathers, worn lipstick, scattered straw and dried marigold.  I stamped my text with versa fine black ink for a sharp, crisp image.  The black border stamp is from On the Edge and the bubbles are from Party Dots.  I mounted the banners with thin foam squares and the panel along the top with thicker foam squares to create different heights for my elements.  Hope you enjoyed this idea about another way to use your On the Corner stamp set.  Have a great day!

Our Life......

I've been playing around with some of my stencils lately.  There are so many ways you can use them!  An old stand by is to use those Distress Inks.  I've sponged some Spun Sugar and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks over a heart stencil from my stash.  I then thought it would be fun to stitch some sentiment banners to the side but using VELLUM.  It seems to have become my 'go to' embellishment lately.  Using several stamps from the You + Me stamp set, I stamped them using Staz-On onto the vellum banners.

Our Life

This card would be fitting for Anniversary, Valentine's or Just Because!  Don't forget to check out the new Calligraphy Monogram Stamps and new sequins Danielle just released!  Hugs!

Awesome Together. A pink + black valentine

Everyone seems to be going crazy about chalkboard and to tell the truth I'm no exception. Thus sharing a pink plus black (and a little white) valentine card.

I used the Sunburst stamp for the chalkboard background. I wanted to get a really messy look for this card so I used an old embossing inkpad with almost no ink inside. I really like the way it turned out.

For the little hearts I picked the You + Me stamp set and heat embossed a few on pink ombre paper from My Mind's Eye.

Finally I heat embossed the "awesome together" sentiment on a chipboard arrow from Blue Fern Studios. Added a little peg and a few sequins and my card was done!

Happy Valentine's Day!
xoxo,
 Yana

Still Christmas??

Happy Sunday!  It's Pamela here with a Christmas card *gasp*!  I am taking the Online Card Class - Stenciled and we are on Day 2. I made my own stencil with my Silhouette using a cut file from Studio Calico and did some watercolouring over the stencil.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Neat & Tangled's Merry and Bright.

Stenciled - Day 2

Of course, you can change this up with a heart stencil and the sentiments from You + Me for a Valentine's Day card!

Introducing the New Neat and Tangled Design Team!

Hello friends!

First of all I have to say a huge thank you to everyone that applied for the design team.  The applications poured in, and I truly enjoyed reading over each one, visiting blogs, and seeing all of your amazing projects!  Unfortunately, all of that made it incredibly difficult for me to make a decision. I managed to select 5 girls to join our team beginning in February.  And you will still be seeing the 5 familiar faces of Pamela Ho, Amy Kolling, Chari Moss, Linda Trace, and Yana Smakula.

And now I am excited and honored to introduce our new girls! Be sure to head to their blogs to check them out and say hello!

Joni Andaya
Hi Joni here, I am a stay at home Mom for a moment who loves to create cards for family and friends. I have been creating cards for a long time but did not create my blog until the end of the year 2012. I love to use colors and dimensions on my projects. I love to use different elements that are available that can be incorporated on my projects as well. Most of all I love creating my own backgrounds and I am so very honored & ecstatic to be given an opportunity to create projects for Neat & Tangled using their fabulous stamps designs.

Taheerah Atchia
Hi everyone! I'm Taheerah and I can't tell you how happy and excited I am to be joining the Neat & Tangled family! :-)

I'm a 30-plus-a-few Londoner now living in the North West of England with my beautiful cats. I work in IT by day and craft by night! I love all things geeky - having a background in science and working in my profession I guess that can't be avoided! I've always been creative but stamping and cardmaking have truly captured my heart and my imagination. I love experimenting with most styles and am definitely a huge lover of trends. I really thrive on pushing my skills and creative eye to the limit, so my work is frequently packed with techniques, outside-the-box uses of product, and clever details! I can't wait to put that to use with the fabulous Neat & Tangled goodies!!

Christine Drogt
Hi, it's Christine from Germany. I have been crafting all my life (I'm 31 now) and started card making in 2010. I have no idea how that happened - but I got totally addicted to stamping. (I bet you know that feeling that you NEED that stamp!). Cardmaking-videos are something I also love a lot, so last year I got a camcorder and started.
I live with my hero Michael and our three cats who all respect my crafty mess.  Lucky me :) I am also lucky to work in a youth centre with a focus on creativity (theatre, photography, arts,..) and enjoy motivating the kids a lot.

On my cards I love to use clean lines, different elements and little details. Maybe I'll start a Project Life soon. I feel totally honored and excited to be joining this team of talented girls - thanks Danielle for having me!

Kristen Foreman

My name is Kristen Foreman and I love everything crafty.  Originally a Florida native, I currently reside in San Diego, CA with my husband and two fur babies.  In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband and friends, shopping (of course), reading, going to the movies, and tons of outdoor activities. I started paper crafting in November 2012. I went to my first card making class that a friend of mine was hosting. It was love at first site! I've been making cards ever since and I am so excited to join the Neat and Tangled team!! :)

Mayuri (Flubidoo)
Hello, I'm Mayuri (or Flubidoo) and I'm so excited to be part of the Neat and Tangled Design Team for 2014! I'm a Graphic Designer turned Project Manager working in a design agency by day, but becoming an avid crafter by night. My style of card-making ranges from clean and simple through to arty, textural and experimental. I have had a huge passion for all things art and craft from a young age, when my Mum taught me to knit and I made my first scarf! The crafting / blogging community has had a huge influence on my card-making over the last year and there is so much inspiration out there already – I hope I too can be equally inspiring and encourage you all to play along!

Faux Stained Glass window

Hi there!

I'm here with a super fun card today that uses a great technique that is so easy to do!

I'm calling it Faux Stained-Glass Window.

I wanted to achieve a look similar to Stained-Glass. I took the large circle from the You + Me stamp set, and stamped it multiple times across the cardstock. I made sure to overlap the circles in several places.

Then I took my Distress Markers, a watercolour brush (well, a brush and some water) and an acrylic block. I then scribbled one colour onto the acrylic block (you could also use some acetate or even your non-stick craft mat). I picked up the colour onto my brush, and painted within various segments of the overlapping circles.

I tried to make sure not to 'paint' the same colour in two adjoining segments.

That's it! So easy and I really love the effect!

I hope you'll give it a try!

See you again soon :)

A sweet valentine + a farewell

Hello Neat and Tangled Lovelies!

Katie Gehring here.  Today, I have a simple and sweet Valentine's treat idea to share using Simple Christmas, You + Me and Neat and Tangled's small glassine bags.

First, I placed 6 delicious Dove dark chocolates in a small glassine bag.  I taped the bag shut with a bit of washi tape and wrapped a ribbon around the bag.  Next, I die cut 2 circles from white and aqua cardstock.  I stamped the pine boughs from Simple Christmas on the white tag and the heart from You + Me with aqua ink.  I love how the pine boughs look like laurels.  There are so many uses for this set outside of just the holidays!

I trimmed about 1/3 of the aqua circle and adhered it to the bottom of the white circle.  A little gold embossing on the arrow and sentiment (also from You + Me), attach the finished tag to a doily, and this sweet package is finished!   I plan to slip this into my hubby's lunch bag closer to Valentine's Day, but it would be also great for the kiddos, minus the dark chocolate.  Mine aren't fans. :)

This post is bittersweet (no dark chocolate pun intended) as it is my last Design Team post for Neat and Tangled.  I have had a wonderful time with this team of talented stampers, and I am ever grateful to Danielle for allowing me the opportunity to create with her wonderful designs!   It's been such a dream come true.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by and sweet wishes for the rest of your day!
Katie

Chalkboard Valentine's

Hi! Jean here sharing a Valentine’s Day card using Neat & Tangled’s You + Me stamp set.

To create my chalkboard sentiment, I lined up the stamps on a Fiskars stamp press. I stamped the top half first with Versamark and shook on Hero Arts white embossing powder. Next I stamped the heart and final sentiment with Versamark, again with the stamp press. Before applying any embossing powder, I stamped the arrow through the heart. After I heat embossed all of the stamped sentiment, I applied a small amount of white pigment ink with my finger.

I finished the card off with patterned paper, a chipboard frame and baker’s twine from the My Mind’s Eye Chalk Studio line, along with white woodgrain cardstock.

So Long and Some Favorites

I have had such an amazing year and a half on this team, saying goodbye to all of these talented women is proving quite difficult. So I choose to say "so long", because I know I'll see all of them continue to be amazing and to make beautiful art.

Thank you, Danielle, for giving me the privilege of designing for Neat & Tangled. I wish you the best in everything.

Here are a few of my favorite projects from my term with Neat & Tangled:

On the Corner Blog Hop + Giveaway!

Hello friends! Danielle here for a super fun blog hop to kick off your week! Today I am joined by Miriam Prantner and lots of awesomely talented friends to showcase the first set Miriam has designed for Neat and Tangled, On the Corner (which is now back in stock!).

And here is my card!

I kept with my usual CAS style. I stamped On the Edge in gold (which looks more yellow in the picture, apologies!), and then layered some paper and vellum. I stamped and paper pieced the street sign and added some enamel dots and called it an afternoon!
On the Corner Blog Hop
I adhered the pole portion of the sign, but not the signs themselves. I bent them up a bit to add some fun dimension!

On the Corner

Next on the hop is Miriam, so be sure to stop by and see what she has made!  See the full list of participants below:

Danielle Walls (you are here!)

GIVEAWAY! If you would like to WIN your own On the Corner set just leave me a comment below! Happy hopping!

January Guest Designer: Laurie Willison!

Hello friends! Danielle here! I'm excited to announce Neat and Tangled's dear friend, Laurie Willison, is joining us for the month of January.

Here is Laurie's first card for you this month. I LOVE how she used You + Me for this project! It is just perfect for Valentine's Day. To create the bubbles around the sentiments she simply stamped using the backside of the stamps. What a great way to get more from your stamps!

Simply gorgeous! And I love the little heart she added to the bottom! A perfect finishing touch!

Be sure to leave Laurie some love!
