A Big Dreamy Ink Blended Background with Koren
Dream Big,
To The Stars
4.20.2020
Hello everyone, Koren here with a fun ink blended background. I was actually inspired by a skin for a Nintendo Switch of all things. It was super cute and I think I did a good job creating the look a like. I’m using the Neat & Tangled Dream Big Stamp set and coordinating dies to create a unique card that could be sent to inspire anyone to dream big.
Background:
I started with a piece of Lawn Fawn's Vanilla Malt cardstock cut to 3 1/2 x 4 3/4”. I then took the My Favorite Things Cloud stencil and ink blended my first row of clouds at the bottom. I used Ranger’s Antique Linen Distress Oxide ink and a Simon Says Stamp ink blending tool to start blending on some color. I intended this to be only a few shades darker than the card stock I started with. Once the first layer of clouds was ink blended on, I used Distress Oxide ink in Fossilized Amber to warm up the piece. I then added Seedless Preserves and Wilted Violet. To finish it off I did add a little bit of Hickory Smoke to darken in the very top.
I cut some cloud images from other stamp and die sets I have on hand. While doing that, I used the negative piece left behind as a stencil to add some white pigment ink clouds in my background. This creates even more dimension. I popped up the clouds using foam tape, before finishing the background I took a white Gelly Roll pen in size 10 and added a bit of starry sky with small dots and +.
Sentiment:
Before I stuck down the bottom cloud edge piece, I did put it in my Misti and stamp “dream big”which is also from the Neat & Tangled dream big stamp set. I used Distress Oxide ink in Seedless Preserves to coordinate with my ink blended background.
Images:
I stamped my image from the Neat & Tangled “Dream Big” stamp set with Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. I used my alcohol markers to color my images on this card. A color map was made with all of the markers that are used to color this image.
To finish off the image, and the card as well, I used Ranger’s Stickles both in Frosted Lace on the fairies wings, and Mercury Glass on the goose's crown.
I hope I’ve inspired you to create your own, dimensional Ink blended background.
