Blocking Smooshing

Summer is in full swing and I have a "cool" card to share with you! (Sea what I did there?)

I'm not sure what this technique is actually called but I'm going with Block Smooshing because that's exactly what I did.

I started out by taking Blue Hawaii and Pool Party Reactive Ink from Hero arts and dragging it across an acrylic block. One half is the Blue Hawaii and the other half is the Pool Party and then I spritzed with water. I quickly turned the block over and placed it onto my water color card stock. I'll let it sit there for a few minutes to really soak into the card.

Once I removed the block, there were a couple spots a little over-saturated so I dabbed that up with a paper towel. I used my heat gun to speed up the drying process and then placed my panel into my Misti. I stamped the large sentiment from Hello Summer using Obsidian Black ink from Altenew. The sentiment didn't cover the entire inked area so I adjusted my stamp, masked off the area that is not watercolored and stamped again.

My cute little hippo is from the Beach Day stamp set. I stamped onto Neenah Solar White card stock 80lb with copic friendly ink and colored with copics. I used the coordinating die to cut out the hippo. Instead of adding foam tape to the image, I used the coordinating die to die cut it 4 more times from just plain white card stock. I really like adding the dimension this way because I won't have any weak spots on my image.

I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration! Thanks for stopping by.
