Colorful Thank You Card

My Christmas cards are completed (though not mailed out yet, LOL) and now I'm thinking about thank you cards! I wanted something bright, bold & easy and here's what I came up with...

I started by repeatedly stamping the blooms from the Grateful Heart set to create the black & white floral background.

I didn't have the bright colors of cardstock that I wanted to use so I cut a few strips of white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers.

On the largest strip, I stamped & embossed "thank you" in white.

Then I adhered all the strips to the card front and trimmed off the excess.

So easy right?! I'm off to make a boat load more. Hope you are having a great day!

Classic Christmas Wreath Card

Hi Friends! I love the little holly branches in the Classic Christmas stamp set! They are so delicate & sweet and are easy to turn into a holiday wreath!

To create this card, I started by stamping the Holiday Wishes background in Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide on kraft cardstock.

I stamped the holly branches in a minty green ink because I love pairing colored lines with Copic coloring.

After coloring the branches, I adhered them to a cardstock ring to achieve the wreath shape. (And later I added a circle behind the wreath so really I could have glued the branches to the circle, LOL!)
To finish the wreath, I added some tiny rhinestones and a bow.

To put the whole thing together, I adhered the wreath to the kraft card but added a white cardstock circle underneath first. Then  stamped the "merry christmas" on a little strip that I colored pink with a Copic marker.

Hope you are getting time to make some cards today and maybe even one with a wreath! Thanks for stopping by!

Easy DIY Pop Up Card

Would you believe it just takes a couple of simple cuts to create an easy pop-up card? I just had to try it with this Neat & Tangled My Favorite Nut fall card and it was so easy!
I made little acorn masks so I could use one stamp to create a whole pile of nuts. And then I added a little pop-up inside for a squirrelly surprise!

You can see how the card came together in this quick video...

Multi Color Stamping

Looking for an easy technique for getting multicolored stamped images? Let me show you the new way I've started doing it!

A few tips...
  • I find this technique works best with inks that stay went a little longer like hybrid and pigment inks.
  • If you find your ink is drying too fast (which could be possible if you live somewhere drier than the PNW...LOL!), just give it a good "huff" off a breath before you stamp. Seriously, breath on that stamp to re-moisten the ink.
  • Some colors don't blend well and turn out muddy so give your combos a test.

I hope you are inspired to break out your blending tools and try this technique! And I hope you love it!

Prism Spotlight Coloring

Spotlight coloring is a great stamping technique where you add a big pop of color to your card by just coloring to part of a stamped image. It's one of my favorite stamping techniques and today I'm adding a rainbow pop!
Here's a quick video of my prism coloring...

To finish the cards, I added a little splatter with clean water. I stamped sentiments from the Typed Sentiments set, added a little faux splatter with a black Copic markers and a few enamel dots.

To The Moon Infinity Shaker Card

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission & the moon landing, I created a "to the moon" infinity shaker card, complete with a galaxy background and a ton of sparkle!
Infinity shaker cards are easy to create with page protectors or stamp storage pockets and that pack a big visual punch!

Rainbow Sentiment Strips

Little sentiment strips like the Neat & Tangled Skinny Strips are one of my very favorite cardmaking embellishments and while watercoloring a skinny strip for another card, I had an idea...

The watercolored and die cut strips looked so pretty sitting on my desk, I decided to use them all together for a card.

I started by watercoloring a messy rainbow with Distress Oxide inks on watercolor cardstock.
After my rainbow panel was dry, I die cut the skinny strips and then used a glue pen to adhere them to my card front.
I finished with a sweet little sentiment from the Typed Sentiments set. So easy right?! When I make a second one, I might leave that extra large strip out (the orange one in the middle, LOL) but I really love the look!

Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you have a happy weekend!

Stretch Your Stamps With Carly Tee

I love finding ways to stretch my stamps to get more from my cardmaking supplies! And I find a good way to get more from a stamp is to actually use less of it, LOL!

Here's what I mean...Slow And Steady is a great stamp for a belated birthday card but it also makes a lovey card by stamping off the edge so just Mr. Sloth is on the card (sorry Mr. Turtle).
I also did some masking to omit the flag he's holding. I call it "lazy girl masking"...I just place some low-tack tape on the actual stamp, covering what I don't want before inking. Then I ink it up, remove the tape and stamp.

To complete my card, I added some glittered hearts made from cardstock inked pink with glimmer paste on top. And a layered die cut sentiment with 3 die cuts adhered together & Glossy Accents on top.

Goat Pun Cards

I love creating silly cards and I love them even more when they include big words like these goat pun cards!
A great alphabet die set is my number one craftroom essential because you can do so much with letters! I love being able to create my own silly sentiments or customize cards with names.
I like to create dimensional letters with 3 layers adhered together with my trusty glue pen. I usually use 2 white cardstock layers and a colored layer to complete the stack. These letters have a subtle ombre effect created with Copic markers and a little Glossy Accents on top.

To create sunglasses, I started with a black colored pencil, drawing some "eyebrows" and then the rest of the sunglasses. After I achieved the general shape I wanted, I went over the glasses with a dark gray Copic. Not perfect but you get the idea ;)

My crafty advice for the weekend is get an alphabet die set, pull out your favorite critter stamps and see what you can come up with! Here are a few more goat puns to get you started...

  • you goat this
  • I goat you babe
  • whatever floats your goat
  • you've goat to be kidding me
  • this just goat serious
  • keep up the goat work

And if you are thinking I'm ridiculous, you're totally right! LOL!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

Adding Stitching To Stamped Images with Neat & Tangled Barnyard Buddies

I love the beautiful detail of adding stitching on stamped images and I'm so inspired by the stitching of other makers so I've been practicing! Today I've got a few of my stitching tips to share with you and a little video!

Here are a few of my tips for stitching...
  • Use heavyweight cardstock to help prevent warping or tearing when you are stitching.
  • No-line coloring is a great way to add color before stitching and keep stitched lines from competing with the stamped lines.
  • Choose alcohol-based coloring mediums like Copic markers over water-based mediums to avoid smearing images while stitching.
  • Use Copic markers to color embroidery thread to match project perfectly!
  • Pre-punch holes for stitching with a craft pick.

Stretch Your Dies With DIY Stencils

Sometimes when I'm looking through my die cuts I think...I wish I had this shape in a stencil. And then I remember that I can DIY a stencil super easily!

Just by die cutting a piece of plastic or acetate, you can create a reusable DIY stencil.
For this card, I used clouds from the Dream Big and To The Stars sets to die cut a random pattern. Then I used my stencil with Nuvo Dreams Drops to create a iridescent cloud background!

Here's a little video...
