OCC Watercolor for Card Makers Homework Day 1 + 2

Hello friends, Danielle here! And Happy Mother's Day! I hope you all had a wonderful day!

Popping in quickly to share a card I created for the latest Online Card Class: Watercolor for Card Makers. This was my homework from Days 1 + 2, creating watercolor backgrounds.

To create my background I cut a piece of watercolor paper, and then stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and laurels in gold. Are you wondering where that sentiment stamp came from? Well, you're just going to have to wait until our May release to get your hands on it ;) May release will start May 19th! So not too much longer!

After stamping and embossing I mixed some of my favorite watercolors to create a sort peachy pink color and started painting. I decided to add some greens and more saturated peach to the leaves and flowers. I let it dry over night and then mounted to my card base.

If you are into watercolors or interested in learning more or just seeing tons of inspiration then I highly recommend the class! I'm going to try to post some more of my homework later this week!

Plainly White

Hey all! Sorry for the lack of posting this weekend, but quite honestly I wasn't feeling particularly crafty.  Spent lots of time lounging around, playing with the kids, watching movies, etc. A lovely few days.

I haven't really been crafting with any intention lately. I've been spending lots of time testing out techniques or crazy ideas, and seeing where it takes me. It's been fun.  I've still been watching the videos for my Online Card Class, and was very inspired by Day 7. It was all about making a white card.  I was dying to use my new butterfly dies, so here they are!  I really love the simplicity of this card.  I think I may actually use the same idea for a scrapbook page of our wedding.

In other news, I've jumped on the Project Life bandwagon and can't wait to get started! I ordered the Clementine kit.  Anyone else doing this? It's my first year doing it and I'm very excited (although I'm sure like many other things I'll fall behind and be kicking myself lol).

Back again with my last card for Week 1 of the Clean and Simple Online Card Class. Another topic this week was one layer cards.  Now, my cards usually aren't very layered, but I tend to do paper piecing, a strip with a sentiment, some ribbon, etc. So I had fun coming up with a design.

Here is my card, hope you like!  I was thinking of making a video tutorial showing how I made it, since it would be quite wordy to explain. Let me know if you'd be interested in the comments below!

Online Card Class Day 1 (Again!)

Here is another card from Day 1 of class. Like I mentioned before I typically avoid sketches because I find them challenging. But when I saw the sketch I used for this card I immediately had an idea. Even better was that I made it entirely from scraps I had in my large basket o' scraps.  Before you ask, the butterfly was cut with my Cameo. And I apologize because I'm having trouble finding out the names of the patterned papers, they all came in my Studio Calico kits. Here is the sketch

Does my card follow the sketch exactly? No, but I think making cards involves adding your own touches anyway :o) This card is also something new for me because I didn't do any stamping besides the sentiment.  I really like how this class is inspiring me to try new approaches!

Online Card Class

Soooo, how many of you are taking the Clean and Simple Online Card Class? I am enjoying every minute so far! As you can probably tell, CAS is my style of choice and so I knew I'd love this class. 

This is my card from Day 1 of class (I know, it's already day 3 so I'm a little late posting!). I'm not really good at sketches for whatever reason, but I'm happy with this card. I also never use brads, so this was stepping out of my comfort zone for sure! I didn't want to use the little tab thingys, so I cut them off to make the brads flat and then glued them on.
