Welcome to the Neighborhood with Koren Wiskman

Hello everyone, Koren here with a cute card using the Neat & Tangled Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee to greet someone new to the neighborhood. With all of the chaos surrounding us, I thought I would concentrate on spreading some kindness instead of germs. This stamp set is currently on sale in the online shop.

I started with a piece of Neenah 110 lb. Solar White cardstock cut to 3 1/2 by 4 3/4. I used one of the cloud building stencils from my stash to ink blend some clouds in the sky. I used my Nuvo Blender Brushes and Distress Oxide ink in Salty Ocean to create them. I then moved on to the bottom portion of my background and used Distress Oxide ink in Mowed Lawn and my drifts and hills stencil to ink blend some ground.

I took another piece of that same white cardstock and loaded it and the Neat & Tangled Delicate Dots Background stamp into my Original MISTI. I stamped the dotted design onto the white cardstock using Simon Says Stamp's Fog ink. I then cut an oval into the center of the panel using a retired Neat & Tangled die set called Card Front Designs but any oval die around this size would do the trick.

I wanted to make the sky and hills slightly more muted in color. Instead of recreating the entire background I cut a piece of heavyweight vellum to the same size and placed it over top of the cloudy sky background. This muted the colors and created almost a haze effect to help the background fall away. I love how this looks.

Now that I had a nice background for my images to live on, I needed some focal images. I stamped the characters from the Neat & Tangled Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee onto the same white cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black ink. This ink is alcohol marker friendly and I used both Copic and Tombow alcohol markers to color my images. I have created a Color Map to show you each marker used to color the images on this card. I have to say, the NEW Tombow ABT Pro Alcohol Markers are really great. I highly recommend checking them out if you like to color with alcohol markers. These are good!

I wanted to add a little something different to these images after they were colored and cut out. I took some pastel rainbow patterned paper I had in my stash to paper piece the blanket or banner the two critters have stretched across the scene. This is easy to do, just stamp the same image onto the piece of patterned paper of your choice and cut it out using some nice cushioned grip scissors. I then glued all the pieces in place using some liquid glue.

I loaded my paper pieced image into my MISTI and arranged the "welcome" sentiment to be stamped on the banner image using the same black ink as before. For the sub-sentiment "to the neighborhood" I stamped it using embossing ink onto black cardstock and heat embossed it using white embossing powder. I used my Fiskars wire guide paper trimmer to cut it into a strip.

I adhered the cloud panel directly to my Simon Says Stamp Fog card base and then used tear tape adhesive around the outside edge to adhere the vellum piece making sure to hid the adhesive the best I could. I then used foam tape to pop up the oval aperture panel. The images were all popped up using the same foam tape. I used clear foam adhesive to pop up the sub-sentiment because I wanted to make sure it was not seen.

To finish off the card I added Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the crown and tiny white pom poms to the tops of the party hats.

Hi crafty friends! Francine Vuillème here! I’m thrilled to join the Neat & Tangled blog for a new guest spot. 

Today, I’m featuring the super sweet Mommy, Daddy and Me stamp set. I’ve decided to create a birth card using the baby bear and his Mommy (or maybe Daddy):

How cute are these critters? I just love them. The bears and the branch (which became a tree) are from the Mommy, Daddy and Meset. The bunny is from the Ride with Me set and the sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee set. I started by creating a top-folded card base using white cardstock. I sponged the clouds using a stencil with blending tools and Brocken China Distress ink. I stamped the sentiment in black ink. I die cut a grassy border from green cardstock and adhered it to the card front using foam pads. Next, I stamped the images in black ink, colored them, cut them with scissors and adhered them with foam pads as shown to create a sweet scene. To finish off my card, I added a red heart bellow the sentiment.

Introducing our July Guest Designer - Lexa Levana

We're excited to be introducing this month's guest designer, Lexa Levana.  Lexa's sweet cards are going to have you smiling all month.  She's a wonderful colorer and creates the sweetest scenes/vignettes on her cards.  Here's a little more about her:

Hello everyone! Let me introduce myself first, you can call me Lexa. I live in Bandung, Indonesia. I always love all things related to arts and colors as long as I can remember. I ended up took architecture as my major on university but after I got married and had my first born I quit my job as an architect. Staying at home (almost) everyday as a mom is not an easy task to do. I needed to channel my passion in art somewhere else, that's how I start cardmaking. Two years before that I had started scrapbooking as a hobby, but now I'm so engaged in watercoloring and making cards. This me time keeps me sane from hectic housework if you what I mean. ;)

Today Lexa is sharing a couple of cards featuring our Prehistoric set.  We're loving how she combined elements from older sets to complete these.  Take a look:

 

Hello crafty friends! I hope you guys are doing great today. Lexa here today and I received a huge opportunity to be a guest design for Neat & Tangled. Yay! I've been their fans for a while, so when I got an email few months ago about this..I was going crazy. Haha. I'm so thrilled and honored to take part on this. So, thank you so much for having me this month. :)

I always love dinosaurs. When I first saw all the adorable images from Prehistoric stamp set...I'm in love! So I decided to use all the images and seperate them on two cards. On my first card I use watercolor patterned papers for the background. I like how versatile this stamp set is, I make a baby card for the first one by combining the sentiment from Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee.



Momma dinosaur has two babies, one who's hanging around her neck and other one is just hatched. How cute is that! I also add googly eyes for extra fun. And don't forget to add some pretty sequins. I think the watercolor background match well with all the watercolored images. The trees are there to complete the scene, they are from Lumberjack Love.



I created a birthday card for the second one, the main images still come from Prehistoric stamp set but the 'celebrate' sentiment is from the older stamp set called Celebrate. I white embossed the sentiment and then blend some Distress Inks in Peacock Feather, Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey then flicked some water on the background to create some faded spots. Don't you think the bold words match the one in a speech bubble pretty well?

I really enjoy watercoloring all the cute images, it makes me happy. I also add a party hat to match the birthday theme on this one. It comes from Big Top Birthday, the size is perfect for this little girl. I use yellow Nuvo Drops for the enamels to add some textures and dimensions.

Congrats Tag Card With Debby Hughes

Hi Debby here today and I'm indulging my love of tags with a card base made from the Classic Tag 2 die.

I started this clean and simple card by stamping the adorable image from Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee in Intense Black ink on Neenah Solar White card. I also stamped the image again on masking paper, trimmed out and placed the mask over the image. I gently blended a sky of Teeny Bikini and Melon inks, lifted the mask and coloured with Copics. 

I cut the scene with the Classic Tag 2 die and also a second tag from white card also. I tied the two tags together with ribbon and twine to form a cute card and simple card.

Neat & Tangled / Et Cetera Papers Collaboration - Day 3

Today is the third and final day of our collaboration with Et Cetera Papers.  Et Cetera Papers produces specialty real wood papers and products, and several team members are working with these papers this week.

The Et Cetera Papers team will also be working with our products, so you'll want to stop by their blog as well.  At the end of the week we'll be drawing a winner from comments on our collaboration posts for prizes.  We'll be drawing a winner here on the Neat & Tangled blog for the $25 prize pack you see below (which consists of adhesive backed real wood cherry and birch veneer papers and as well as real wood envelopes), and Et Cetera papers will be drawing a winner for a $25 Neat & Tangled store credit.



OK, let's take a look at today's projects.  First up today is Keeway:

Hello, it's Keeway! For my card today, I am working with the birch wood adhesive sheet as my base layer of the card. It is difficult to see in the picture, but the birch wood sheet has a very cool wood texture that really adds quality to the card.

I wanted to keep the card clean and simple, and with Spring amongst us, I thought would be great to bring out Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee stamp set! I love this adorable sheep and bunny holding a banner that you can fit a sentiment to any occasion.

I blended some turquoise bottom up, and blue and pink from top to center on a smooth white cardstock and die cut a circle out for the background. I then stamped 'It's Your Birthday' from the Celebrate stamp set at the top. I adhered this background directly to my birch base card.

I then adhered my image in front of the background with foam tape to complete the card. A simple and adorable birthday card.

Next we have Sveta:



I'm so happy to present you my projects for our collaboration with ETC Papers! For both cards I used the Cherry Tape Roll as it fits my pine trees perfectly. If you have a bigger die to cut you can go with Cherry Wood Paper Sheet. Both are adhesive and so easy to use!

I made two funny Valentine cards based on my first associations with wooden paper and the tree dies Neat & Tangled has.



I chose the Lumberjack love stamp set and coordinating Lumberjack love Nice and Neat dies to create a scene, that turned out "sarcastic funny". I've colored the lumberjack with brush pens and added wooden trees. The sentiment is from My Favorite Nut stamp set.



The second card is more "cute funny".  I used the Sailmates stamps set to add faces to my wooden trees. The sentiment from the Lumberjack love stamp set is way too cute and soo perfect for the characters I made.

The other thing that I liked about these ETC Papers goodies is that in addition to the fact that the wooden sheets as well as the tape are self-adhesive, they have coordinating envelopes. I'm sure that cards made with them will impress anyone who gets them.

Baby card set

Hi there!

Elena here, to show you a card set I made to slip into my sister's baby gift basket (thank goodness she doesn't check crafty blogs, lol.)

My little sister is having twins in December! She already has 2 girls and this will be girls 3 and 4. We're so excited!

I love creating thank you cards for new moms. I used Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee for these cards. I love that the image is so large it takes the guesswork out of designing the card-front.

When I create multiples of the same set, I usually do it very systematically. First, stamp and color all images, then die-cut them. Next, figure out what to do with them. It's not usually all planned out!

The best decision I did make was to frame out the focal image with the Hooray wreath. I snipped the word hooray out and placed it onto a piece of grey cardstock. 

I splattered some white ink onto the grey circle to give it a dreamy quality and added some pink to the bottom half of each card to make sure that the set looked girly enough for my sister and her soon-to-be-FOUR girls.

{VIDEO} 2-in-1 Thank You Cards with Pop-Up Party Favours

We're celebrating my son's 8th birthday this weekend and instead of making some kind of box for the party favours, I decided to combine the favour pouch with a thank you card. That way, once the party favour is removed, the recipient still has a card to keep.



Here's a look at the LEGO pieces under the emoji flap on the inside. There are eight pieces that make up Lloyd, both good and evil, from the green ninja from the Ninjago stories.

I used four Neat & Tangled sets to create these 2-in-1 cards: Pixelated Circle Die, Pixelated Faces Dies, Square Thoughts and Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee. Using the first two sets, I created two emoji faces for the front of the card and the pop-up on the inside.

I used the partial die-cutting technique to create the flap on the inside, which reveals the party favour pouch.  Both sentiments were created using the Square Thoughts and Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee stamp sets.
