Design Team Reunion: Heather Hoffman

Good morning! Heather Hoffman here - and I'm super excited to be guesting on the Neat and Tangled blog today to help celebrate Neat and Tangled's 5th Birthday! I spent a brief bit of time on the N & T Design Team a few years back, and also spent a year on the Little Tangles Design Team - so many fond memories, and love watching each new release come out.

I actually have TWO cards to share with you today - and in the past week I've even shared a couple more if you want to check them out!

I just can't get enough of the darling giraffe from the new Wild Ones stamp set - and it pairs so perfectly on this card with the previously released Floral Heart! I colored them both up with Copics and die cut each one with their coordinating dies.

I added a strip of pattern paper on the bottom of my card base, and blended some distress ink across the top - splattering with water and white paint for texture. Mounted the wreath and giraffe with foam adhesive, and stamped a sentiment from Kindness Matters (I'm pretty sure it was my first ever Neat and Tangled set - and I still have it, obviously, because it is still so relevant!)

Next up, I had played a little with the new Open Box Die - but when I saw what Miriam Prantner's - the die designer - created HERE, I knew just what I wanted to make with it! 

I die cut it from kraft paper, layered some pattern paper, and heat embossed a sentiment from Out of the Box on a strip of black cardstock. Then...I tucked something inside and tied it closed!

Untie the string...

...and TADA!!! Isn't this a perfect way to tuck a little cash inside as a gift?

Happy New Year!!!

Good morning - Happy 2014! Heather stopping by to share a New Year card with you using Neat and Tangled's Party Dots Stamp Set:

I stamped the bubble dots several times in Delicata Golden Glitz Ink and Hero Arts Mint Julep ink - LOVE that color combo! Added a cityscape border cut with a MFT Die-namics die, and a strip of kraft paper at the bottom of that, and finished off with a couple of strips of washi tape in coordinating colors, and some black jute twine tied around the bottom.

Merry and Bright Bokeh Tree

Good morning! Heather here to share a Christmas card using my Neat and Tangled stamps a little creatively - I really like the "bokeh" style cards, and it occurred to me that it would work perfectly to make a Christmas tree! 

 I used the solid and outline circle from Merry and Bright to build my tree, stamping each in a different shade of green ink, then stamping off 2 or 3 times to make it look like even more colors. The sentiment also came from this set. I added the star on top, and throughout the tree from Sparkle and Shine. I also used some Raspberry Red Satin Sequins, with a touch of black bling in the center.

Pattern paper is from October Afternoon, and the stitched rectangle is a Lawn Fawn die. The tiny clothespin was in a pack I found at Michael's and just HAD to have - full of cute and fun colors! I tied some jute twine and added some tiny jingle bells to my card to finish it off.

Simple Christmas - Warm Wishes

Good morning! Heather here to share a card with you this morning!

I used Simple Christmas and several colors of MFT inks to make my center cluster, then added the sparkles from Merry and Bright. I added a touch of bling, a little bit of Stitckles, and then layered over a folded banner with the sentiment stamped in gray Versafine ink. I curved my sentiment slightly on my clear block to make it fit my banner.

Bokeh Style Card

Good morning! Heather here to share a card with you this morning! I have been seeing a lot of cards lately that mimic the "bokeh" technique in photography, and wanted to try my hand at it.

 I used the solid circle image from Merry and Bright, and used 3 different colors of ink to stamp randomly on a piece of cardstock - stamping 2 times each time I inked to give even more color differences. I die cut a rectangle, then cut it again in vellum to layer over the top. I punched a couple of holes at the top, then threaded the two layers together with some sheer ribbon. I stamped the sentiment from Sparkle and Shine on the vellum with Staz-on ink, then glued some Flat Matte Marshmallow sequins on the vellum to reinforce the "bokeh" effect. Finally, I mounted the entire thing with foam adhesive on my cardbase. Here is a little peak at the stamping under the vellum:

Celebrate Birthday Balloons

Good morning! Heather here to share a fun birthday card using the newly released Just for You stamp set:

LOVE the look of these darling balloons layered together! I used 3 different colors of shadow ink - they blend and overlap so fun! 

Layered with some American Crafts pattern paper, and a bit of washi tape to hold it down. Super simple and fun!

Neat and Tangled 1st Birthday Bash! + Introductions!

Hello friends.  I am here, filled with a whole lot of good emotions, to kick start Neat and Tangled's 1st Birthday Bash!  It is hard to believe that just one year ago I took a big leap, and now here we are!  I am so grateful for everything the past year has brought: new friends, new challenges, growth, tons of laughs, a little less sleep, and just a lot of fun :)

This month is going to be jam packed with fun projects, awesome guest designers, and lots of giveaways.  You also HAVE to stop by Little Tangles (the official Neat and Tangled Challenge Blog) daily because there will also be some very special guests and even more giveaways! Just a whole month to party :)

My name is Heather, and I blog over at Houses Built of Cards. Here is a little about me: I have been married for 13 years to the man of my dreams, and have two sweet daughters age 10 and nearly 9 that I homeschool. I absolutely LOVE making cards – and also enjoy scrapbooking memories of my family. I lived my entire life up until about a year ago in Northwestern Washington State, and now live in a very small town in Wyoming. While we are still adjusting -especially to the cold winters – it has been nothing short of an adventure for us all, with the normal ups and downs of missing our family and friends back home. If you aren’t familiar with my blog name, then let me explain a little! When I started card making, I quickly found that I was making WAY more cards than I could possibly use. Thanks in part to my daughters and something they both cared deeply for, I decided to direct all the proceeds from the sales of my cards to the building of houses for widows and their children in Burundi, Africa, through a ministry called Sister Connection. Building one house is amazingly just $600!!! I just earned enough for my 3rd house, and am working on a 4^th one now. I’m so excited to be joining the Neat and Tangled Design Team! Cute and amazing stamps, and beautiful sequins – what’s not to love?

My name is Yana Smakula, I’m 26 years old and I’m from Ukraine. I’ve been married for a little bit over a year now, no kids but we do have two black cats and we can’t live without them! I love to travel across the world and meet new people, discover new cultures and just explore. So far together with my husband we’ve been to a few places in Europe, Africa, Asia and USA. Our next dream destination is Madagascar, I hear the nature there is simply breathtaking! I enjoy scrapbooking and I mostly scrapbook about our travels. My other passion is cardmaking – I enjoy trying new products and techniques, experimenting and creating in different styles. I’m very much into stamping although I never really though I was until I took a closer look at my cards and noticed almost all of them use stamps!
