You Are Mermazing with Koren Wiskman

Hello everyone.Koren here today.  I have a card that I made using the Neat & Tangled Mermazing stamp set. This stamp set just so happens to be on sale in the Neat & Tangled online shop as well as its coordinating dies.

To create this summer inspired "mermazing" card I started with a piece of Neenah 110 lb. Solar White cardstock cut to 3 1/2 by 4 3/4. I used a circle die from my stash to cut a circle into a piece of Avery repositionable label sheet also cut to 3 1/2 by 4 3/4 to make a mask. I gently added the mask to the plain white panel so that I could ink blend a background within the circle mask.

I pulled a scallop stencil from my stash and sprayed the underside of it with Pixie Spray. After a min. or so I applied the stencil to my paper over the mask. To be sure it didn't move I also taped down both the background panel and the stencil with purple tape.

I used Distress Oxide inks in Mustard seed, Squeezed Lemonade, Evergreen Bough, Cracked Pistachio, and Mermaid Lagoon to blend a pretty mermaid inspired background. I used Nuvo blender brushes to blend the inks together.

Once I was done blending the inks in place I knew I wanted to make it sparkle. So once I removed the stencil from the panel I placed my newly ink-blended panel into my splatter box. I hit the panel with my 3 favorite sparkle sprays. I used Imagine crafts Frost and Sparkle shimmer sprays as well as, Hero Arts White Iridescent shimmer spray to make the entire circle sparkle and shine. I gave this panel a few mins to dry before pulling the label sheet back to reveal the finished background.

I stamped the images from Neat & Tangled's Mermazing stamp set with alcohol marker friendly ink onto the same Neenah 110 lb cardstock I used for the background. I used my alcohol markers to color my images. I've created a chart of which markers I used to complete the images.

As for the sentiment, I stamped the "mermazing" sentiment with Nuvo Clear Mark embossing ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder. All of the images and this sentiment were cut out using the Brother Scan n Cut. I prefer using dies but sadly I don't have them, so the electronic cutting machine it is. The "you are" sub-sentiment is stamped with Versafine Nocturne Clair ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I popped the background panel onto a light gray card base cut to size A2 and scored in a top folding portrait orientation. I used white craft foam and tear tape adhesive to accomplish that. Then I began to pop up the images, arranging them in a way that was appealing to my eye. I used foam tape to pop them up. Finally I used clear acrylic droplets that I have in my stash to add some water to the scene.

I really like how this card turned out. Of course I always end up coloring my mermaids the same exact way. I need to branch out a little, lol.

I hope that I have inspired you to create something mermazing today.

Koren
