Happy Birthday with Francine Vuillème

Hi crafty friends! Francine Vuillème here! I’m back on the Neat & Tangled blog for a last guest spot.

Today, I’m showcasing the Mail Background cling stamp. Here is the card I’ve made:

I started by creating a top-folded card base and adhered colorful patterned paper to the card front. Next, I stamped the Mail Background stamp in light gray ink to the semi-circular stitched shape. I adhered the shape to the card front using foam pads for more dimension. I stamped the background to a piece of white cardstock again but this time in black ink and cut just one envelope. I used a character from the Piece of Cake stamp set that I stamped in black ink, colored and cut with scissors. I fixed the sweet boy behind the envelope and adhered both to the semi-circular shape using foam pads. The sentiment is from the Little Monster stamp set and was heat embossed with white embossing powder onto a strip of black cardstock. To finish off my card, I added a few colorful enamel dots.

I hope you’ve got inspired by this card. This was my last guest spot so far. It was a pleasure to play with all these adorable stamps during the last three weeks. Thanks to the Neat & Tangled team for having me as a guest this month and for the lovely comments!

Spring mood card with Sveta Fotinia

Hello everyone!

Sveta is here with a portion of spring mood inspiration. I made a very tender flourish card using Floral Frame stamp set and coordinating dies.

For me spring and watercolors are in the one boat, can't imagine tender  spring flowers and young leaves without soft watercolors. I heat embossed the wreath and the sentiment with white embossing powder on a watercolor paper. 

I made just a few touches of watercolors just to highlight white embossed images. To add some dimension I made a self-made chipboard from the center part. And of course I added clear sequins that match this card perfectly.

Two Easter Cards with Daria

Hello-hello Dear Friends,

Daria here, and I have a few cards for you today. Don't you think these bunnies from All The Bunnies stamp set are adorable. I have made a couple of cards playing with the bunnies.

I started with stamping and die-cutting lots of bunnies, butterflies and easter eggs from All The Bunnies stamp set. Then, I coloured all of them and arranged on a card base. I used texture paste to create grass on my background panel and coloured it with distress inks in Twisted Citron and Moved Lawn and blending tool.

I adhered everything with a foam tape. I also added cute white pom-poms for the bunnies' tales. For a finishing touch, I added a little twine and a few sequins.

 For my second card, I used a beautiful wreath from Floral Frame stamp set. I think, it adds that perfect feel of spring.

For both of the cards, I used Skinny Stripes dies and Typed Sentiments. I stamped the Happy Easter sentiment from All The Bunnies stamp set and arrange it into a group of banners.

Felt Piecing With Carissa Wiley

Hi everyone! It's Carissa Wiley with you here today. Today I’m going to show you felt piecing, using different colors of felt, to create adorable, felt die cuts. I’m also going to show you a simple stitching technique to use on your card making projects to add a fun hand-stitched accent to the edges of your die cuts.

Today I’m featuring the new stitching dies from Neat & Tangled. I absolutely ❤︎ the Cactus and Llama Stitching Dies. I think they are so much fun for creating what I call “desert chic” projects. I know you’ve seen all the cacti and llamas in the home decor area of your favorite store…usually combined with some pinks and minty greens….that’s what I refer to as desert chic. :)

In order to create even strips of felt, I used a die to cut my felt. If you’re handy with a rotary cutting tool and a straight edge, you could also create your felt strips for piecing with that.  

For the cactus, I used the Wonky Chevron Background die and for the blanket on the llama, I used one of the Skinny Strips dies. These dies allow me to cut my felt perfectly straight so I can piece them together, leaving me with a multi-colored felt piece.

I wanted to keep the adorable felt cactus and llama as the focal point of my cards, so I created a simple ink blended background using Distress Oxide inks and blending brushes.

I rarely use this technique, but to add a little texture to the ink blended background, I splattered a bit of water on to the blended ink and then picked up the excess using a dry cloth. This leaves a water splattered look on the ink blending and creates a lot of texture and variation in the background.

I finished off both cards with a touch of gold...a layered glitter sentiment banner, a strip of glitter card stock down the side and a few gold confetti pieces. This gold touch really puts the chic in "desert chic". ;)

Easy Two Color Copic Blends with Kelly Latevola

Hello Crafters! 

Today is all about Spring!

Why?

Because it's finally arrived you guys! 

Now I just need the weather to check it's email so it can get with the program. It snowed here again last night. Booo. 

Pastels, flowers, Easter, good ole flourishing greenness all in my Spring wheelhouse. I decided to start by stamping down a pastel rainbow in the background I used the large sentiment stamp from Hello Spring to add some interest to my background while leaving my sweet girl as my focal point. 

Speaking of that cutie I colored her up with Copic markers. But only two color blends. She still looks dimensional though right?! You don't have to have a ton of colors or feel overwhelmed while coloring images. You can still end up with great results that you really love.

I don't usually go for colored card stock but I'm so glad I decided to match the "Spring" sentiment using my stamp ink. It's still soft but helps it pop off the background. She's too cute in her pink and white bunny outfit. love.
