I can't believe it's the last day of our
Cosmo Cricket collaboration week!
Each day this week, two of our designers will be showcasing projects made with Neat & Tangled stamps and Cosmo Cricket's new Just Add Watercolor line. Be sure to head over to the
Cosmo Cricket blog to check out Julie's post from Monday and leave a comment. She'll draw a winner for a $25 gift certificate to Neat & Tangled. Of course you'll also want to leave comments here. One lucky winner will be drawn from all the comments received this week to receive a 12" Watercolor Paper Deck. Get your comments in because we'll announce a winner over the weekend.
Mayuri and Rachel are finishing the week up for us.
Hey there,
Mayuri here to share a couple of cards for the collaboration with
Cosmo Cricket and their absolutely amazing Just Add Watercolor line of paper. I made two cards, each using a different watercolouring technique - here’s the first, using Distress Inks:
I trimmed down a piece of the watercolour paper to slightly smaller than my card front and used one of my favourite Distress Ink Techniques. I smushed down a few inks straight onto a craft mat, spritzed with water and laid the panel into the inky puddles. I heat set and repeated until I got the desired effect.
On a piece of vellum, I stamped
My Favorite with Versamark Ink, sprinkled with
WOW Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing power and heat embossed. This piece was adhered to the watercolour panel before foam mounting to a white card base. To finish, I added some
sequins. For my second card, I used my
Gansai Tambi Watercolour Paint set:
I used the
A Lot To Say die to die-cut a panel out of the watercolour paper and spritzed with water. Then I picked up various colours from the paint set with a brush and started adding colour randomly, allowing the water to do most of the work.
I heat set the speech bubble die-cut and stamped a sentiment from
All My Heart with black dye ink. Using Simon Says Stamp
Fog ink, I stamped the
Punchinella background at a slight angle onto a white card base - this is just the right shade of grey to offset against the colourful die-cut piece, which was foam mounted to the card front. Again, I finished with a few
sequins.
Hey! It's Rachel, thanks so much for stopping by today to check out these
Cosmo Cricket + Neat & Tangled projects. This week has been amazing, right? The Just Add Water line is amazing for all of us watercolor fanatics - it was so much fun to work with.
For my cards, I chose one of the floral designs and did some very basic watercoloring. The paper is so forgiving - I was using my 3 year old's watercolors and still got good results! I went with a pastel palette - not my typical choice, but fun to push your boundaries, right?
I started by watercoloring the entire sheet of paper and then die cut the chevron pattern, adhering the outline cut to a kraft card base. I then cut a rectangle from vellum and head embossed the sentiment and hearts from
Kindness Matters, before stitching it all in place. I finished off the card with a sprinkling of sequins, but wanted to keep things really simple!
I had to come up with something for the scraps as well - so I did some simple circle punching for this next card.
The sentiment is from
Paper Cut Flowers - it is getting a lot of the ink in my craft room! I finished this card off with some washi tape and gold enamel dots. Again, nothing too complicated here - wanted to let that gorgeous paper take the spotlight!
Thanks for all the wonderful comments this week, we really enjoyed working with
Cosmo Cricket and want to send them a huge thanks for the beautiful products that they shared with us! We'll be closing comments this evening and announcing a winner over the weekend, so make sure you check out all the posts from this week.
