What's Up Pac-man

Hi Everyone!
Chari here to share a fun card I created with the ghost from Halloween Scene. Who says ghosts have to be just for Halloween right? This cute little ghost reminded me of Blinky, Pinky, Inky & Clyde, the ghosts from Pac-man. And when I get a kind of cooky idea like that in my head it's really hard to not put it on paper. So here is my Pac-man themed card.

pacman

This makes a perfect masculine card, and any sentiment would work.  Or you could put a bow to create Ms. Pac-man.  How cute would that be with the "hey, girlfriend" sentiment form Just Hello right? I stamped out each ghost on white cardstock then colored them with copics and cut them out.  Pac-man is simply a 1" circle punched out of yellow cardstock with a pie piece shape cut out to make the mouth.  I embossed the sentiment on vellum with white embossing powder and the black background was embossed with a dot embossing folder, I thought it looked like the dots that Pac-man chows down on without being too busy.

I hope you all enjoyed my fun take on using the ghost image in a non-Halloween way. :)

And now on to some super cute little note cards by Mary Dawn! She actually made these for the release week, but I wanted to do them in a separate post because I thought they were so cute, and such a great idea! Wouldn't these be perfect to make as a set to give as a gift?  Or just to have on hand when you want to send a little note? Love this idea! Thank you so much MD for sharing :) They were all made using the Just Hello set.

Fresh Blooms Lantern

Hello friends! It's Linda here :)

I'm so excited to be bringing you an extra project today, it's one I've been working on for several weeks and I'm so thrilled with the end result!

I was wandering aimlessly around determinedly searching Pinterest a few months ago (for what, I'm not sure) and I found an idea I was really hoping to try out myself. I however, can't find the pin again (lol) so I'll just have to show you MY version :)

This was so very simple to make, it just took some time to fussy cut the flowers out :)

(This would only take most people a few hours to cut out, but I'm a terribly slow cutter, plus I have small children who interrupt me every 2.1 seconds)

Here are a few more photos so you can see the different angles (the flowers wrap around the lantern in three 'bands')

You can see the ends of the band swirl inwards rather than ending stiffly in a straight line. I wanted them to look as natural and organic as possible.

Please ignore my two-tone walls. The rest of the hallway is my job for this week :)

All I did was stamp the large and small flower from Fresh Blooms MANY times on Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut them all out. I used a Memento black marker to run around the edge of each flower to take away the white edges from the cardstock (this gives the flowers-or any cut image) a more store-bought/pre-made look, rather than looking like they were cut by hand).

Next I separated them into four fairly even groups and sprayed them with Dylusions Ink Spray in Bubblegum Pink, Squeezed Orange, Lemon Zest and Vibrant Turquoise.

(I use an old shipping box to do my misting/spraying in. Just lay the flowers out all over the bottom of the box in a single layer--no overlapping--and spray from about 6-8 inches away. Give them a minute to dry enough to pick up, then put them somewhere safe to finish drying out.)

Next I used a gluegun to put a small amount of hot glue in the very centre of the back of each flower and stuck it onto my lantern in an 'flowing' swirl pattern. (The lantern is just a paper-style party lantern I got for around $2 from a local craft store)
To add a little shimmer, I dusted the flowers with some Perfect Pearls (in Perfect Pearl colour, which is kind of translucent). It just looks magical in real life!
I plan on making at least two more of these, I think a cluster of 3 would look lovely in the hallway or in a corner over a side table!

I really love those flowers in Fresh Blooms and I can 't wait to use them again to make more home decor projects like this!

I hope this project has inspired you to try something exciting for your own home! If you do, don't forget to add your photos to our flickr group! We'd love to see what you make.

Thank you so much for stopping by

see you soon!

Linda x

I Spy Neat and Tangled!

I seriously love seeing how you all use your Neat and Tangled Stamps!

Here are a few projects I've seen that I just had to share! The first is from Ruza. I love that she used the house from the Christmasy Sweet Home set to create a backdrop for her evil villian! The windows really look like they are glowing! Just goes to show how versatile the stamps can be, and they play nice with other stamps :)

The next two I spotted over in our Flickr group. (Don't forget to upload your pictures there too!)

This one is by Laura Jane. I love how she used the flowers from Fresh Blooms. This card is really a work of art, I feel like it should be hanging on a wall!

Um, why didn't I think to turn the Little Tangles into Christmas lights like flhummingbird

Halloween Photo Tray

For Danielle's Young Crafter's Unite Card go HERE
* * * * * * *
Hello everyone, Jean here with the perfect Halloween project! Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, and I enjoyed every minute of celebrating the holiday with my sons as they grew up. I wanted a way to attractively display our Halloween highlights and decided to decorate a 7 Gypsies Artist Printers Tray with a combination of photos, journaling, and embellished cards.

Neat & Tangled Halloween Project

To begin, I sized my photos in Photoshop. The ATC size is approximately 2 ¾ inches wide by 3 ¾ inches tall. I’ve found that each slot in the tray is a bit different in size, so after cutting the pieces down to the fixed size, I trim off a bit if needed.

Once I had my printed photos in hand, I laid them out in a pattern pleasing to the eye. I reserved two of the slots for journaling and decorated three other slots with stamped embellishments from the Neat &Tangled Halloween Scene stamp set.

I wanted to keep this project fairly simple and therefore limited my patterned paper choices to ones from the Echo Park Apothecary Emporium 6 x 6 Paper Pad. I printed my journaling onto vellum and backed it with patterned paper.

Whenever I embark on a project, I always try to establish goals. First and foremost, I want to finish what I start. Therefore, I make upfront choices, such as to use a single collection of patterned papers, in order to keep the project manageable. Another goal is to stretch myself with my crafting. My initial approach was to create my embellished cards from a few stamped items paired with the patterned paper. After seeing the incredible inspiration from the Design Team for this stamp set, I changed up two of the embellished scenes a bit.

For my first take of the bat scene (on the left), I simply added a white-embossed bat to a patterned paper background with a die cut circle for the moon. For my second take, I embossed the tree and fence that are part of the set, added Silver Stickles to the stamped stars, and mounted the bat with dimensional foam.

Variations on Scene

For my first take of the ghost scene (on the left), I added stamped ghosts and a conversation bubble with a white-embossed sentiment to the patterned paper background. For the second take, I stamped the ghosts on white cardstock and added Star Dust Stickles. For the background, I clear embossed the stamp set’s “boo” sentiment repeatedly. I also added a stamped moon.

Variations on Scene

In both cases, my first approach met my goal of keeping it simple, whereas my second approach stretched my skills a bit. I had never used Stickles before, and now that I have, I know I’ll find ways to incorporate them into stamped projects in the future!

YCU Challenge 13: Hot Trends

Hi Friends!

Danielle here today with the next challenge for Young Crafters Unite. This time it's all about being trendy!

This card was really fun to put together, and I think I included some hot trends for sure.  I went with arrows, hexagons, and a little washi for my project.  I also think that the color combo of aqua and red is still on point. I used the arrow and "what's up" sentiment from the Just Hello set :)

YCU 13: Trendy!

The winner of the challenge will receive a $20 gift certificate to the fabulous Simon Says Stamp!
Hope you'll join us!
