Introducing our July Guest Designer - Lexa Levana

We're excited to be introducing this month's guest designer, Lexa Levana.  Lexa's sweet cards are going to have you smiling all month.  She's a wonderful colorer and creates the sweetest scenes/vignettes on her cards.  Here's a little more about her:

Hello everyone! Let me introduce myself first, you can call me Lexa. I live in Bandung, Indonesia. I always love all things related to arts and colors as long as I can remember. I ended up took architecture as my major on university but after I got married and had my first born I quit my job as an architect. Staying at home (almost) everyday as a mom is not an easy task to do. I needed to channel my passion in art somewhere else, that's how I start cardmaking. Two years before that I had started scrapbooking as a hobby, but now I'm so engaged in watercoloring and making cards. This me time keeps me sane from hectic housework if you what I mean. ;)

Today Lexa is sharing a couple of cards featuring our Prehistoric set.  We're loving how she combined elements from older sets to complete these.  Take a look:

Hello crafty friends! I hope you guys are doing great today. Lexa here today and I received a huge opportunity to be a guest design for Neat & Tangled. Yay! I've been their fans for a while, so when I got an email few months ago about this..I was going crazy. Haha. I'm so thrilled and honored to take part on this. So, thank you so much for having me this month. :)

I always love dinosaurs. When I first saw all the adorable images from Prehistoric stamp set...I'm in love! So I decided to use all the images and seperate them on two cards. On my first card I use watercolor patterned papers for the background. I like how versatile this stamp set is, I make a baby card for the first one by combining the sentiment from Itty Bitty Welcoming Committee.

Momma dinosaur has two babies, one who's hanging around her neck and other one is just hatched. How cute is that! I also add googly eyes for extra fun. And don't forget to add some pretty sequins. I think the watercolor background match well with all the watercolored images. The trees are there to complete the scene, they are from Lumberjack Love.

I created a birthday card for the second one, the main images still come from Prehistoric stamp set but the 'celebrate' sentiment is from the older stamp set called Celebrate. I white embossed the sentiment and then blend some Distress Inks in Peacock Feather, Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey then flicked some water on the background to create some faded spots. Don't you think the bold words match the one in a speech bubble pretty well?

I really enjoy watercoloring all the cute images, it makes me happy. I also add a party hat to match the birthday theme on this one. It comes from Big Top Birthday, the size is perfect for this little girl. I use yellow Nuvo Drops for the enamels to add some textures and dimensions.

I hope you like my cards for today and thank you so much for stopping by today. I'll see you next week...have an amazing day!

You Can Do Anything with Keeway

Hi friends! Keeway here today with some fun crafting with older released stamp sets and dies. Today I will be featuring the Big Top Birthday and Scalloped dies.
I always start by stamping and coloring my images. I colored with copic markers. Then I went die cut the sentiment You Can Do Anything in white cardstock three times. For one of the die cuts, I blended red dye ink from bottom up for each line of words, using post-its to mask off areas I did not want to ink. Then I adhered all three layers together, with my blended layer on top.
Next I blended a dark background with grey and black distress inks from top to bottom on smooth white cardstock.  I couldn't help but add a little bit of black paint splatter. I'm addicted to splatter!

Next, I wanted to create some framing so I cut 2 strips of red striped pattern paper and black cardstock. On the black cardstock I die cut the scalloped edges with the Scalloped dies.

Thanks for droppy by and see you next time!

Introducing our October Guest Designer - Mayline Jung

We're so excited about this month's guest designer, Mayline Jung.  Mayline has a wonderful whimsical style that ranges from florals to critters, to icons.  Her cards are clean, fresh, bright and technically exquisite.  We know that you are going to be bowled over by her designs this month.

Here is a little more about Mayline:

My name is Mayline Jung. I am Korean and moved to Canada in 2008. I have a wonderful and supportive husband. I love arts, design and paper crafting, especially card making. It was by chance in 2012 that I watched a cardmaking tutorial on YouTube. Immediately, I fell in love with the craft so I watched tutorials for an entire year and finally at the end of 2013, I decided to try to make cards. This is my short story on how my love for making cards began. And I have a YouTube channel and Instagram @maylinelovesyou.

And now you need to check out her projects for today!

Hi everyone! It’s Mayline. I’m so excited today to share my cards as Neat & Tangled Guest Designer. I have so much fun playing with these cute stamps! For my first card, I’m using Big top birthday stamp set.

Here is how I made this card.  I used a no-line watercolor technique.

To start off, I repeatedly stamped images from Big top birthday stamp set using Distress ink “Scattered Straw”on watercolor paper. Then I used watercolor paint for coloring and set aside.  And I stamped stars from Big Top Birthday stamp set with black ink. Next I stamped a banner and a sentiment with black ink on the pink color cardstock. I then fussy cut it and adhered it to the card panel with foam mounting tape. To complete the card, I adhered the panel to a white card base.

Here is my second card.

First I cut out speech bubble die from  Square Thoughts die-cut four times on white cardstock and one time on black cardstock. And I took one speech bubble and I draw a square using a pencil on A2 sized watercolor paper.  Then I stamped a sentiment from Square Thoughts stamp set on the inside of square using black ink. After that I covered the square using sticky note. After that I stamped images from Big top birthday stamp set  using Distress ink “Scattered Straw”on the watercolor paper.  And I stamped stars from Big Top Birthday stamp set with black ink.

Then I removed the sticky note. After that I used watercolor paint for coloring. Next I stacked speech bubbles that I cut at the beginning and I taped it down on the center of the paper.

Next I stamped a lion image in black ink on another watercolor paper and colored it. After that I fussy cut it and adhered the lion to the bottom of the speech bubble with tape. That’s it :)

{Super Sponsor} Fall 2016 Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

As you all know, Neat & Tangled design team member Amy Tsuruta runs several Coffee Lovers Blog Hops throughout the year and the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop is on now through Friday! Neat & Tangled is a Super Sponsor and there are many prizes to be won so I hope you'll join us!

I combined four different sets to create my card. I watercoloured the Hooray Die, as well as the coffee mugs from Perfect Blend, using Gansai paints. The background was created using the Graduated Stripes Cover Plate, backed with patterned paper from Crate Paper's Cute Girl 6x6 paper pad. I added to the sentiment with a partial from Big Top Birthday. To finish, I attached a white hemp cord bow and tiny pearls to the wreath.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
