Watercolor Negative Painting Technique with Kelly Latevola

I watched a really fun watercolor video the other day and inspired me to try it. The artist in this video hand drew her leaves. I cheated with stamps :) 

With negative painting you don't actually paint the stamped image you paint around. Honestly it looks kind of crazy moving through it but in the end it really is pretty cool :) 

You started by laying down a base layer of color. Once dry stamp your images and then use water downed watercolors to paint around them. Let it dry and repeat the same steps making your colors darker with each layer

I tried the Ink on 3 Fade Out ink for the first time with this card too and found it extremely difficult to see the stamped image on top of the color. Thankfully I eventually figured out that the ink grabs the color you put on top of it which allows you to see exactly where the image is.

This is a very different look for me but I loved trying a new technique. I'd definitely reccomend giving it a try!
