Two Christmas Cards with Amy Yang

Today we're welcoming Amy Yang, our 15,000 Instagram winner back to the blog.  She created the cutest pair of cards for us.  Here she is with the scoop:

Hello everyone! It’s Amy again. Today I have two Christmas cards to share with you.

For my first project I stretched the Lumberjack Love stamp set to make a Christmas card. I did simple masking to have the boy hold a tree instead of an ax. Before applying ink to the boy, I used washi tape to cover just the top of the ax. I removed the washi tape after inking and stamped it on copic friendly paper. Then, I stamped just the boy’s head on masking paper, trimmed it with the scissor and adhered it to the stamped image. Next, I took just the tree and stamped it where the ax would’ve been. This allowed the boy to hold the tree instead of an ax, and have the tree behind his head. I stamped and colored the rest of the images you see on this card with copic markers. After fussy cutting the images, I used a scissor to cut along the bear’s arm so that he can hold a little red gift box.

The sentiment I used for this card is from Beary Merry stamp set. I stamped the sentiment using Versamark ink, applied red embossing power and set it with my heat gun. For the background and the landscapes, I lightly applied distress inks using the blending tools. Lastly, I adhered all the pieces together onto the front panel.

Now for my second project, I made a fun shaker card using Elfs And Their Shelf. First, I cut out a rectangle frame with a window using pattern paper. Using the same rectangle die, I cut out another panel for the back of the shaker. On the back panel I applied twisted citron distress ink. Then, I cut out a heat resistant acetate a little larger than the window. On that acetate I used Versamark ink to emboss the sentiment from the Beary Merrystamp set using a white color this time. Next, I sealed the window framed panel with the acetate. Afterwards, I added a double layer of foam tapes around the window and used a lot of the Classic Christmas Sequin Mix. I then closed it with the back panel. I was actually inspired to make a shaker card because of these sequins, I think the color combinations are very beautiful and festive. Lastly, I used the images I colored with copic makers from the Elfs And Their Shelf and adhered them to the front of the card. I still felt like it was missing something, so I added a bow to the top of the card.

As you can see, I’m a big fan of stamps designed by Elena Roussakis. It’s always so much fun making cards with her designs. Thank you for stopping by and I’ll see you next week.
