Happy Birthday, Chari!

Hello!

Here today with a VERY special post.  Today we are having a surprise Birthday Blog Hop for our amazing, sweet, friend Chari.

We have a lovely group of ladies along the hop here to celebrate, so sit back and join the party!

This is the first stop in the hop, and the rest of the list is below.
1. Danielle (you are here)
2. Linda
4. Steph
5. Joy
6. Kelly
8. Melissa
9. Britta
10. Marie
11. Yainea

Chari and I have only become friends within the past year, but I am so glad we did! My days would be so boring without her text/tweets/emails.  She is seriously one of the most thoughtful people I have ever met!  And, well, she is super talented to boot! I hope that we get to meet in real life soon :) Happy Birthday Chari!

Chari likes washi tape, so I knew I had to use some for her card! I covered some white cardstock with the clouds and hearts tape, and then die cut the butterflies.
Now hop on over to Linda's blog to see what she has made. And don't forget to swing by Chari's blog and wish her a Happy Birthday :)

New Stamps!

New stamps in the house!  It's been a long time since I've been able to get stamps, and when a package arrived for me this week I could not wait to get inky.

I know it's nothing new, but I just got this Just Saying Hi set from Hero Arts and I am in love. Do you know me? I love vintage. I so wish I lived during the 50's. I want to be friends with Lucille Ball...can someone invent time travel already?

Anyway, here is the first card I made using my new babies. Rarely do I use colored cardstock as my card base, but I really like the yellow with black here.
I hope you guys have a great weekend and I'll be back on Monday with the next video in the Shhh...Mommy's Hiding series.

It's Wednesday! Friday is soo close.

Here today with the next challenge over at Young Crafters Unite.  This time it's all about flowers.  Flowers are some of my favorite things to stamp, so I was excited :)

The winner will receive a $25 gift card to Simon Says Stamp.

And here's my card. Lots of patterned paper, I've really been trying to use it more.
Head over to YCU to see what the other girls have made and be sure to play along!

Lawnscaping Challenge 34: Embossing!

I know, it's Monday, but at least that means it's time for another Lawnscaping Challenge!

This week is all about embossing, dry or heat.

And the winner of the challenge will receive a stamp set of their choice from the always generous Lawn Fawn

So here is my layout for this challenge.  This is one of my most treasured photos. It is of me at around age 2 with my Dzadzi (Polish for Grandpa). It was also taken by my cousin Stephen, who at the time was probably 12. Seriously a prodigy. Needless to say, he is now a professional photographer.

My Dzadzi was my first best friend. Even though I was young when he passed away (about 6), I still am able recall so many wonderful memories. Likely because they were so special and filled with love. And every time I smell pipe tobacco I think of him :) Not that I come across that smell often lol.

That's the really lovely thing about scrapbooking. It allows you to go back in time and reflect on moments in your life.  I'm not the best at putting together layouts, but it doesn't matter, because for me it's about the enjoyment I get from taking the time out to just remember. And speaking of remembering, the kraft envelope behind the photo holds a piece of paper on which I've written down some of my favorite memories of him.

I hope you're inspired :)

Card for a Friend

I love making cards for friends. Love, love, love it. I especially love making cards for crafty friends who will FULLY appreciate it. Know what I mean?

Anywho, I made this card for my friend Mary Dawn. She's a super lady and I wanted her to know ;)

Hope you're all having a great week!

ABNH: Dust 'Em Off Challenge

Hi Friends!

Here today with the next challenge over at A Blog Named Hero.  This time it's all about showing some love to those products that have been collecting dust. (I'm pretty sure we all have some of those!)
One lucky winner will win a $25 gift voucher from our amazing sponsor Simon Says Stamp
And here's my card. When Hero Arts released their Spring 2012 catalog I fell in love with all of those yummy newsprint stamps, and I now own most of them.  I hate to admit that I have yet to put them to use. *Sigh* Please tell me I'm not the only one that does that?? For this card I inked up the Big Eyes and Newsprint Background and I am so glad I did! I think this owl is super cute, and I colored him using some Distress Inks.  I left off a sentiment because I am in need of some blank cards.

Don't forget to head over to A Blog Named Hero to enter and see what all the other DT girls created :)
