Be Joyful Always

Hello! I'm Rubeena and I'm elated to be a guest designer for Neat and Tangled for three entire months! Last week, I joined the Neat and Tangled Design Team for the March 2016 Release Reveal. The response was wonderful, and we appreciate all the love and support from you all!

Professionally, I am a social worker and I discovered papercrafting less than two years ago while I was in graduate school. Since then, I have unleashed the creative part of me that I had neglected to nurture. My first love was and still is heat embossing. It still fascinates me when the powder transforms before your eyes as heat is applied. The other thing I enjoy is watercolors.

Neat and Tangled products are great for all kinds of techniques and styles. Today's card combines a few. To begin, I embossed white cardstock using the new Hexastar Cover Die, which sold out on Friday. It'll be available in about three weeks from the Neat and Tangled shop but can also be found in stock from other retailers. I trimmed around the embossed look and matted the layer over my A2 card base.

Next, I stamped some of the images from Scandinavian Prints on watercolor paper with VersaMark ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I watercolored with red and gold inks. I used the Gardenia Blooms Journaling Card Die when the watercolor piece dried. I had no plan in mind when I created this card so I was just trying different things. It turned out that the frame part of the die cut and the floral part embossed (since watercolor paper is thick). Using separate white cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from Gardenia Blooms in red ink and trimmed down the piece to fit in the center.

To finish the card, I added a gold doily over my previously embossed Hexastar base and then added the watercolored piece over it. I added various sizes of the Pearl Size sequins. I hope you enjoyed my post today. Thanks so much for stopping by! :)
