Introducing our January Guest Designer - Jessica Frost-Ballas

Happy Friday!  We're thrilled to be introducing you to our first guest designer of the year, Jessica Frost-Ballas!  Jessica is a talented cardmaker who does it all.  Her cards are full of color, sparkle, a bit of whimsy and technique.  We know you're going to love what you see this month!  Here's a bit more about Jessica:

Hi Jess here and I’m so excited to be guesting here at Neat and Tangled this month! For those who may not know me, my name is Jessica and I blog over at All the Sparkle! I live in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with my incredibly supportive husband, two senior shelties, a crazy tortoiseshell cat, and a senior dutch bunny. I am a professional musician by day and a papercrafter by night (or really early morning)! I enjoy creating cards for my friends and family and I can often be found coloring a couple images or embossing a sentiment in-between lessons and gigs! I love experimenting with new techniques and mediums and I usually can’t resist adding a little extra sparkle to all of my cards and projects! I'm really excited to share my projects with you this month and many thanks to Danielle for the invitation!!

Recently I’ve been playing with alcohol inks and thought they’d make a pretty background for my first card. I started by blending flamingo, watermelon, raspberry, and wild plum alcohol inks onto yupo paper and let it dry before trimming it down to a 4” by 5.25.” I stamped the sentiment from Bloom onto the paper with versamark and heat-embossed it with gold tinsel embossing powder. Then I stamped the floral embellishment from the same set twice onto vellum and heat-embossed it with the same embossing powder. I used the coordinating die to die-cut the vellum florals and then adhered it to the alcohol inked background with vellum adhesive.

I used some scraps leftover from my alcohol inked background to stamp some of the individual flowers from the set and heat-embossed them with gold tinsel embossing powder. I die-cut them with the coordinating dies and then popped them up on the card panel with foam mounting tape. I also added a sprinkling of Pretty in Pink sequins for a little sparkle and finally finished the card by adhering the panel to a gold glitter card base.

And that’s it for today! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!
