Watercoloring with Lovely Lotus

Welcome back everyone! I'm always fascinated by cards I see with watercoloring and have been wanting to try it myself for a while now. In today's card, I gave it a shot.

Being that I'm pretty new to watercoloring images, I decided to keep my card designs very clean and simple. I stamped an image from the Lovely Lotus stamp set onto watercolor card stock with Gina K Designs Sandy Beach Ink.

I watercolored my image with Altenew watercolor pan set and a size 4 brush. I started by laying down a light wash of color and then worked in layers to achieve some depth. The Lovely Lotus images were great for practicing watercoloring. There is quite a bit of open space in the petals to work with the watercolor and just play around. If you don't like how a color is sitting, just add water. Watercoloring is very forgiving.

It's really hard to see in the pictures but when my image was dry, I added some gold glitter with the Nuvo Midas Touch shimmer pen. I stamped a sentiment to the bottom with Obsidian Black Ink and trimmed my panel down. Then I added my panel to a white A2 size card base.

I really enjoyed experimenting with watercoloring and I hope you enjoyed today's inspiration. Thanks for stopping by!
