Operation Safe and Sound

Today I am here with a very special post. My dear crafty friend Christy's home was broken into and many of their possessions were destroyed or taken. Some things held such sentimental value that nothing will replace it. I cannot begin to imagine what she is going through, but I know that these jerks violated her home, the place where she and her family should feel safe. It is where they raise their children and sleep soundly at night. Sadly, in addition to physical belongings being lost, they have also been robbed of any sense of security. I can only hope that over time they can begin to heal.

Christy has been updating her Facebook page, and I know that dealing with the police and insurance company has only been an additional stressor.

BUT What makes the crafting community so awesome is that we are always there for each other, no matter how far! Some of Christy's friends have come together to help. Many of the girls are making cards, I was unable to. (We just got back from a 2 week vacation today) But ultimately, the expense of trying to get her family back on their feet is going to be a strain. She needs to replace many household items, necessities for living, in addition to rebuilding a sense of security we many times take for granted.

So we are asking for your help. We've tried to make it convenient for you to help Christy and her family.  There is a Pay Pal Button on each of our blogs. We are asking that if you are willing and able, donate whatever you can to help Christy and her family rebuild their lives. NOTHING is too small. Our goal is to raise at least $1000 to help cover the costs of food, lodging and replacing at least some of the items taken.

If you're interested in seeing all of the cards, a full list of girls who are participating in the drive is available at Lawnscaping Challenge blog and A Blog Named Hero

Hi there! Stephanie here from A Steph-Made Life. I am filling in for Danielle today while she is busy :)

Today I wanted to share a very clean and simple card that I made using stamps from two of the Hero Arts & Studio Calico sets – “Hey Y’all” and “Heyday Sentiments.” I am in love with the fun, bold images in these sets.

I love to use white on white for a clean and simple look. To add a little interest to all that white, I added some score lines near the edges of the raised white panel. To do this, I used my Martha Stewart scoring board and scored one line at 1/8”, and one line at 1/4” (the first two groves on the board).

I added a wood veneer heart from Studio Calico, which I made pink by spraying with some Tattered Angles Glimmer Mist in Black Cherry.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the card. Thanks for stopping by and thank you so much to Danielle for having me!

xoxo, Stephanie

Hi there!

It's Linda (from Papertracer) here and I'm so excited to be here on Danielle's blog today, filling in for her while she spends some special 'holiday' (she likes how I use that word LOL) time with her precious boys :)

So I tried to think of a card that would suit Danielle's blog readers. To do that, I thought about Danielle herself :) and so to that end, I tried to make a card that was sweet, classic, neat and fun. (That's Danielle to a tee, dont you think?!)

I used the Hero Arts CL444 How does your Garden Grow stamp set and then coloured it in with Copic Markers.I added some Hero Arts pearls, and then adhered the image onto some My Minds Eye patterned paper, before putting it onto a piece of Hero Arts Eggshell Layering paper that I'd cut and scored into a standard card. That's it!

Such a fun, pretty image to use!

Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my guest post and are having a great start to your Summer!

A big thank you to my beautiful friend Danielle for inviting me to spend some time here on her blog :)

YCU Challenge 11: Many Layers!

Don't forget to enter the Giveaway HERE
***
Time for another challenge over at YCU!  This month it's all about layers.  You know what I did when I saw the theme? CRIED. Just kidding. But I really do struggle with layers, that's why they call it a challenge I guess!

The winner will receive a $25 gift card to Simon Says Stamp!

Here's my card!

I created the sunburst by masking off some strips on my circle and using my ink blender.  The rest was paper pieced!  I also added a piece of flair from {a flair for buttons}, it was the perfect touch!

Hope you enjoy and don't forget to play along!

Happy Birthday Cris!

Hello, hello!

Last week was Cris' birthday, I'm lucky enough to get to work with her over at A Blog Named Hero.

I made this card to celebrate, and thought I'd share it will you all :) I stamped the flower on some patterned paper, and then to add a little something I colored in alternating sections of the petals.  Did you ever stamp something and realize a sentiment won't fit? That's what happened here. I stamped the frame, realized I didn't have a stamped sentiment that fit, so I had wrote one it. An extra personal touch ;)

Cris, I hope you had a wonderful birthday! Your card is in the mail :)

The winner will receive a stamp set of their choice from Lawn Fawn!

When I heard 'splash of color' I immediately envisioned a plain white card with one pop of color...so that's what I did!

It's super simple, and really sweet (I think!)

Hope you're week is off to a great start!
