"On the Strip" Valentine's Day Cards

Hi, Jean here, showing some Valentine's Day cards using the fabulous "On the Strip" stamp set paired with a sentiment from the "My Heart Sings" set.

I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so I approached this project from the perspective of wanting to create something  fail-safe even though it may look complicated! To begin with, I stamped the stamp set patterns onto cardstock using a variety of inks from my supplies. Since I was working with a Valentine's Day theme, I stuck with reds and pinks, as well as gray and silver.

The next step was to cut the stamped strips into 1/2" paper strips with an X-Acto knife on a cutting mat. I  eventually settled on strips stamped with the Hero Arts mid-tone shadow inks in the colors of Red Royal, Bubble Gum, Raspberry Jam, and Pale Tomato. I clustered the strips into groups, varying the patterns and colors used.

Using double-sided tape I adhered the strips onto white cardstock ensuring that there weren't gaps between the strips.

For my first card, I used one of the larger heart dies from the Wplus9 set, along with a slightly smaller heart die from a Savvy set. Before cutting, I placed the heart at a 45-degree angle to the strips. I stamped the card with the sentiment, adhered the hearts, and added a die-cut arrow from the Savvy set. The large heart is adhered with dimensional adhesive.

With some extra strips, I created a second card by die-cutting the heart from the cardstock center and adhering the strips (already adhered to cardstock) onto the die cut opening.

Hope you have a fabulous and crafty Valentine's Day!
