Hello everyone, Jean here with the perfect Halloween project! Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, and I enjoyed every minute of celebrating the holiday with my sons as they grew up. I wanted a way to attractively display our Halloween highlights and decided to decorate a 7 Gypsies Artist Printers Tray with a combination of photos, journaling, and embellished cards.

Neat & Tangled Halloween Project

To begin, I sized my photos in Photoshop. The ATC size is approximately 2 ¾ inches wide by 3 ¾ inches tall. I’ve found that each slot in the tray is a bit different in size, so after cutting the pieces down to the fixed size, I trim off a bit if needed.

Once I had my printed photos in hand, I laid them out in a pattern pleasing to the eye. I reserved two of the slots for journaling and decorated three other slots with stamped embellishments from the Neat &Tangled Halloween Scene stamp set.

I wanted to keep this project fairly simple and therefore limited my patterned paper choices to ones from the Echo Park Apothecary Emporium 6 x 6 Paper Pad. I printed my journaling onto vellum and backed it with patterned paper.

Whenever I embark on a project, I always try to establish goals. First and foremost, I want to finish what I start. Therefore, I make upfront choices, such as to use a single collection of patterned papers, in order to keep the project manageable. Another goal is to stretch myself with my crafting. My initial approach was to create my embellished cards from a few stamped items paired with the patterned paper. After seeing the incredible inspiration from the Design Team for this stamp set, I changed up two of the embellished scenes a bit.

For my first take of the bat scene (on the left), I simply added a white-embossed bat to a patterned paper background with a die cut circle for the moon. For my second take, I embossed the tree and fence that are part of the set, added Silver Stickles to the stamped stars, and mounted the bat with dimensional foam.

Variations on Scene

For my first take of the ghost scene (on the left), I added stamped ghosts and a conversation bubble with a white-embossed sentiment to the patterned paper background. For the second take, I stamped the ghosts on white cardstock and added Star Dust Stickles. For the background, I clear embossed the stamp set’s “boo” sentiment repeatedly. I also added a stamped moon.

Variations on Scene

In both cases, my first approach met my goal of keeping it simple, whereas my second approach stretched my skills a bit. I had never used Stickles before, and now that I have, I know I’ll find ways to incorporate them into stamped projects in the future!
