Reindeer Approved with the Sunday Sketch

Hi everyone! It's Suzanne here with a Christmas card inspired by this week's Sunday Sketch at Studio Calico.

For my card, I used two different stamps sets from the store. The Reindeer Approved sentiment is from Santa's Notes and the chevron background image is from Little Tangles. I stamped the sentiment using Versafine ink and the background was stamped using Versamark. I cut the red and green patterned papers to be 1.75" square, and the khaki colored patterned strips are 1" x 1.75". I adhered the wooden trees using mini glue dots and using regular old adhesive and foam tape to put together the rest.

Have you started your Christmas card yet? I think this would be easy to mass produce. :)

Hugs,
Suzanne

Card for a Friend

I love making cards for friends. Love, love, love it. I especially love making cards for crafty friends who will FULLY appreciate it. Know what I mean?

Anywho, I made this card for my friend Mary Dawn. She's a super lady and I wanted her to know ;)

Hope you're all having a great week!

Happy Earth Day - A Special Card!

Happy Earth Day!

I'm here today with a special post and sneak peek to celebrate.

Little known fact: I have my Bachelor's degree in Biology, and my original plan was to get my Master's in Conservation Biology. Well, I got pregnant (twice), so that got put on the back burner.  I still try to do my part when it comes to helping our environment because it is very near and dear to my heart.

I made a card for Simon Says Stamp that is all about recycling.  How so, you ask?  Well, first of all I recycled one of my old card layouts (because I liked it a lot).  You can see the original card HERE.  Secondly, I recycled one of these babies

Every Thursday the husband and I get chai tea lattes from Starbucks and I save the sleeves. I reuse them for various things, but here is what I did for this particular card

I unfolded and cut out a portion of the sleeve. I sprayed it with my white Mister Huey's, but that sleeve seriously just sucked it up! I needed something a little thicker to get more coverage so I got out some white acrylic paint. That did the trick!

And here is another way to save some trees...do you have a jar/bowl/box of scraps like this? (Truth be told I have 3 separate containers with various scraps).  Why not put some of those things to use??  I fished through here and found a few things that would work perfectly.

Here is a sneak peek of my card, to see it in it's entirety head over to the Simon Says Stamp Blog and check it out.

Let me know if you use any "recycling" in your paper crafts!

Oh, Snap!

Happy Monday!

I sit here listening to a screaming baby as I type this. Praying it will take my mind off the crying.  Little M has started rolling, which means we can no longer swaddle him when he sleeps (for fear of him rolling onto his tummy and not being able to roll back). So today starts the transition. This seems nearly impossible as he constantly puts his hands in his mouth (which wakes/frustrates him) so I have no idea how he will ever stop doing that long enough to fall sleep. Any advice would be much appreciated.  This breaks my heart, but I know it is necessary.  We went through it a bit with G, but he made the transition fairly easily and is a great sleeper now. This kid, not so much.

This is actually an older project.  For Christmas I got my husband and myself a photography class. It's called "Getting Off Auto", which I so desperately need to learn how to do.  I printed out the voucher and slipped it into this envelope. The stamps are from Studio Calico, they came in one of my monthly kits.

PS- He fell asleep! :o) Now I can finish watching the season finale of Downton Abbey!

A Little Splash (literally)

Hey Everyone!

Sorry for the lack of posting over the weekend. I'm sure many of you are feeling the crunch as Christmas approaches like me. The week leading up to Christmas is truly my favorite. Lots of baking, movies, music, and get togethers with friends and family.

I rarely miss an opportunity to participate over at The Playdate Cafe when they do their 'splash of color' challenges and this week was no exception.
And here is my card, which I quite literally splashed with color using Mister Huey's.
Be sure to stop by later this week as I should have a few fun posts to share :o)
