Gardenia Bloom Thank Yous

Hey everyone!  It's Miriam here today with a little tutorial for you.  I needed a quick set of Thank You notes this week.  This is Carina's last week at preschool!  It's hard to believe, she's spent almost five years there, and Ellie was there for two years as well.

These cards are for the girls special teachers that we're leaving behind.  They feature the Gardenia Blooms Journaling Card Die and a sentiment from Paper Cut Flowers.

I thought I would provide a little tutorial for you:

I had an old Gardenia Blooms die cut that I used as a guide.

Then I used Derwent Inktense pencils to lightly trace along the inside edge of the blooms and leaves. I didn't trace all around the openings just toward the center of the flowers.

This is what it looks like when you remove the guide.

I normally don't watercolor directly on my cardstock because it will warp, but this requires very little water.  This is also why I'm using a real paintbrush as opposed to a waterbrush, it's easier to control the amount of water in a paintbrush as opposed to a waterbrush.

I use the guide to make sure I'm on the right track and then (totally optional) I add a bit more pencil for additional color/dimension.

After those additional details are softened with water, you can put the die cut you will actually use over top and see what the card will look like.

To adhere the die cut I like to use liquid adhesive as I think it works best on those delicate details.  I swipe the adhesive on the solid portions of the die cut and just tap it over the intricate areas.

I created both Grout Gray and Primitive White cardstock versions of the card, I think it would look great in any neutral.  It looks complicated but the coloring portion is actually very quick and these were easily mass producible.  They are also perfect for mailing since they are so flat.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Kraft & Gold Happy Birthday

Hey Neat & Tangled fans! It is Rachel here today sharing a quick birthday card for when you need something in a pinch. I love simple cards with elegant color schemes and it doesn't get much better than white, gold & kraft for me.

I created a subtle background using a variety of stamps. The solid circles are the reverse side of the sequin & button stamps from Crafting is My Jam, Everyday Circles  and the back side of the ball of yarn from Meowww. The flower and large circle are from Dala Horse, the heart is from Jump Start my Heart and the tiny stars are from Blog Planner.

The lovely sentiment is from the Photo Booth set. The kraft panel is mounted onto a piece of white woodgrain paper for a little touch of something extra.

That is all from me today. I hope you're inspired to flip over your stamps and get the most out of the solid side as well - it gives them a whole new life! Have a great day!

Have a pawesome day

Hello dear readers!

During last days of summer I'm dreaming about the beach and the sea more and more. It's strange because I live near the sea) I don't like city beaches with crowds of people during the season, my time - September, when vacations will be over and children will go to school!
I've used sleeping doggy from a Woof stamp set that I colored with dye inks, A lot to Say die and Sailmates stamp set to create a "dream".

Hope you liked my card today!
Have a pawsome day ;)

The world is full of 'faceted' things ;-)

Hello there!

Mayuri here to share a card using the Faceted stamp set along with one of my favourites, Origami Map

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled August 2015 Monthly Post.

I began by heat embossing the faceted image in white onto a panel of white cardstock. I then added droplets of reinkers onto a piece of acetate, spritzed with water and transferred the inky goodness to the embossed panel. I repeated the process to get the right amount of coverage...

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled August 2015 Monthly Post.

I trimmed the panel down with a rectangle die once it had dried, and foam mounted to a white card base.

I ran the Origami Map die through my die-cutting machine with some vellum and foam mounted that to the card front, strategically placing the foam squares behind a heat embossed sentiment strip.

To finish, I added some sequins from the Mermaid Tail mix.

The sentiment comes from Origami Map - combining sentiments and images from different stamp sets means you can stretch them and get so much more mileage from them! I hope you'll give it a go too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Party Time

Hello everyone! AmandineC here today, how are you doing?

I am delighted to share with you a card in which I had fun altering the TURKEY TALK set.

I stamped the image twice on the same paper, and then I cut the tail to create a crazy hat for my turkey.

The speech bubble is also from the Turkey Talk set, and I used a sentiment from PHOTO BOOTH, as well as some sequins on a background created using distress inks as watercolors.

Have you ever played with your images to create new ones?  I'd love to see!

Video: Summer Greeting Card Idea for Dog Lover

Hi, it's May here sharing a summer greeting card idea for a dog lover using the Woof stamp set. Here is what I came up with:

Who doesn't love jumping in a cool pool on a hot summer day? Dog does, too! He/she is having so much fun swimming around and retrieving a ball in the pool. What a pawsome day! :)

It's absolutely clean and simple, but I used a couple of techniques to create it: Copic coloring and masking. Here is a video tutorial on how I made the card:

If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up. Your support makes me to do more, much more. :)

That's all I have today. Hope you loved my card and get some inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by. Happy crafting!

Happy Monday!

I hope you had the chance to join in the birthday festivities last week!  It's Amy here with a quick 'thinking of you' card:

I've been a long time fan of embroidery hoops and was thrilled when Neat & Tangled introduced their Hoop Nice and Neat die!   I combined the Hand Stitched and Paris stamp sets.

I finished off my project with a bit of watercoloring and a small heart wood veneer.

Thanks so much for stoppin' by and I hope you have a super week!

Hey, it's Amy T here with a couple cards using the NEW Heart of Gold stamps and coordinating Nice & Neat Die.

First up is a super clean & crisp design.  The Heart of Gold has been stamped with Ranger Archival Black ink and then watercolored:

The label happened to match perfectly, the sentiment is from the Life is Beautiful set.

My second card makes my gold loving heart happy:

The NEW Heart of Gold Nice and Neat die is WONDERFUL...I ran it through fairly thick glitter cardstock so instead of running it through again, I left it so that the pieces were intact.  I managed to do some minimal folding so that in real life, there is tons of 'movement' in that piece!

Today May has THREE cards for you today (since it's our 3rd birthday!) using our new Happiest Birthday stamp set!
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

It's May here sharing three different ways to use the brand new Happiest Birthday stamp set. I created three cards to celebrate the Neat and Tangled 3rd birthday, and here are what I came up with:

I used the party hat from the set to make a corn ice cream for my first card. With the help of circles from the Dala Horse stamp set, I was able to stack my ice cream scoops. All the images were colored with Copic markers.

For the second card, I created a little scene with a happy bear tossing confetti in to the sky. Isn't he look so adorable? :)

My bear is having fun writing words in the sky with a firecracker stick. :) FYI, I cut out my stamps(confetti+sentiment) with scissors to create a curved line so that it looked like flowing light when stamping.

I made a video showing how I created my first card, watch it below!

You can watch the video here on the blog, or in HD HERE on YouTube. If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel HERE!

That's all I have today. Hope you enjoyed seeing my birthday cards!

Your next stop on the hop today is the super sweet Laura Bassen!
